Usually for air purification from dust employ complex and bulky mechanical filters with low productivity. To increase efficiency and reduce the size of air treatment systems can, using the electronic dust collector.

The principle of operation of this scrubber is that the contaminated air passes through a metal pipe 1, in which there are two wire mesh 2 and 3, playing the role of the filter (Fig. 1). Grid 2 is isolated from the box and is in relation to him under constant positive voltage of 5.2 kV Grid 3 has a reliable electrical contact with the box (grounded). Dust particles passing through the first mesh acquire strong electrical charge, which causes them to Deposit on the mesh of the second filter with respect to the first grid a negative potential.

Fig.1

For removal of large particles between the first and second filters is an additional mechanical filter 4. The dust-free clean air is discharged at the opposite openings of the pipe, and the dust is deposited on the bottom, near the second filter.

Device electronic dust collector is easy, but requires a DC voltage of 5.2 kV It can be assembled according to the proposed scheme (see Fig. 2). It is a mains voltage rectifier, consisting of a step-up transformer TR1 rectifier and voltage doubler diodes D1, D2 and the capacitors C2, C3. Limits output current to a safe for human values 5 mA by using current-limiting resistors R1-R3, and additional winding III of the transformer TR1, (together with the capacitor C1 forms a ferroresonant stabilizing circuit). Its effect is that in case of exceeding the rectified current 5 mA, the voltage across the terminals of the winding II is reduced.

Neon lamp L1 in this device plays the role of the signaling value of the rectified voltage. It is switched parallel to the resistor R1. Its resistance is chosen so that when the rectified voltage of 5.2 kV is the voltage drop across the resistor R1 is about 100 V, that is sufficient for ignition of the neon lamp. As dust accumulates on the second grid, the current consumption increases, this leads to a decrease in the output voltage. L1 lamp goes out, indicating that the collector needs cleaning. The cleaning device can be made only after the power is turned off.

In the rectifier of dust collector used a silicon diode poles and high-voltage capacitors used in televisions. Transformer TR1, with the goal of increasing the electric strength, filled with epoxy resin. As the diodes D1 and Yes you can use high voltage silicon d1006-D.
