Scanning technique

When searching it is important not to hurry. Moving the search coil directly in front of side to side at a speed of 40-50 cm per second, move slowly forward.

Coil hold straight and parallel to the plane of the earth's surface, a constant level above the ground about 3-4 cm. Slightly lift coil above the tops of the plants, rocks and other obstacles.

Each new wave is separated from the previous one by a distance equal to half the diameter the search coil.

Search methods

Use the system search methods! Do not skip sections of the soil at the joints the aisles!

Option 1. Search with 50% overlapping strokes.

The scan produced only in the dynamic mode of operation of the detector. With each step is a new wag and move forward for a distance equal to half the diameter of the search coil. First you need to examine the area of the field along the long side, the entire length in one pass. When they reached the end of the field, move in the direction of the width of the passage across the field and then move in the opposite direction, parallel to the previous pass and etc.

Option 2. Search without 50% overlapping strokes, on-grid style route.

All manufactured as in the first embodiment, except for the 50% overlapping. Sweep and step forward a distance equal to the diameter of the search coil. First explore the area along the longest side. Then, once you have covered the entire the area of the field, you begin to re-examine the same field, moving across (perpendicular to the previous route).

Please note that while the land is not surveyed a second time, this search method faster covers the entire area of the field. During this time, you can already find precious objects, if you're lucky and make a decision: either continue continue scanning or restricted to appear found and excavating!

Determining the exact location of the object

If an object is detected in live mode, discrimination, need to be exact to determine its location, so as not to dig a lot of unnecessary waste. Can also measure and depth, if the detector is equipped with the depth gauge.

To accurately determine the position and depth of the object, depending on your the detectors, are used in the following modes:

  • dynamic mode "All metals", if the metal detector does not have a static the search mode. The metal detector beeps, only in motion. Need move the search coil with a constant speed over the situ of the object;
  • static mode "All metals" or "PINPOINT". The moving coil is not necessary, for with the exception of those movements that will output exactly at the center of the object in this mode. The speed of the movements is not important! The metal detector beeps if the search coil is over the place of occurrence of the object in a stationary condition.

Identifying the exact place of occurrence of the object takes practice and is best executes movements in the shape of the letter "X" over the studied site:

Step 1. Longitudinal movement of the search coil, swipe with reduced amplitude over the alleged place of occurrence of the object from side to side.

Step 2. Once the hidden object will beep, check visually point on earth, when you heard the maximum audio signal. Stop the coil right over the point.

Step 3. Now several times sweep the coil back and forth in the direction perpendicular to the original. Line this new direction must pass through the first point. Again visually mark the spot on the ground, when I heard the beep.

Step 4. If there are different points, it is necessary to repeat movements under different angles in the shape of the letter "X" to complete matching of all points into one.

Step 5. The exact location of the object is under the point of intersection of all visual direct, which shows the maximum alarm sound with the movement of the coil of the metal detector from different directions. This point should be noted on the ground or a box, and, when convenient, to start digging.

The division of the area into sectors and areas of search

If you have only a couple of hours time for the first inspection of a new site intended for search, random search can be effective if perhaps you're lucky.

In places where the finds are detected with high intensity or you are expecting to find something specific - for example, "grandma treasure", this area is recommended systematically examined. It makes no sense to walk in a circle and return to one and the same point, just to waste time hoping for good luck!

In the notorious "law of unintended consequences", you will find everything anything but "TREASURE"! It remains lie quietly in the ground under the patch area that you don't scanned, not even noticing how it happened.

Step 1. Mark the area of the field along the longest side, below on the ground or two pegs at a distance of 12-20 m from each other in a straight line.

Step 2. Stretch a cord between them at a height of 15 cm from the ground. In parallel a distance of 1.2 m doing the same thing. Thus, we have marked lane for in the first pass.

Step 3. After scanning the first band pulled another cord at a distance 1.2 m from a trusted corridor, on the left or right side, as you prefer, and continue the survey on the second page. At the end you need to remove the cord internal coding and labeling them the next lane to pass.

Scribing the General search area for this method, you'll always see what proportion the area surveyed and will be sure that nothing of interest is missed.

In the search by this technique, you'll, discover and to identify the functions of discrimination of different detector finds.

It is recommended not to dig, but only to note the location of objects flags of different colors, sticking them in the ground:

  • a red flag to mark the place where the target emits a steady signal, characterized for non-ferrous metals or some other specific sound characteristic interesting you type of the object;
  • white box - the place where the earth is the object made of metal, but the exact identification of the type of object is impossible and requires additional time for clarification.

Step 4. After you have examined all of the planned search area or checked enough in your opinion area ratio, the time ends, allotted for the search, you should begin to clarify the objectives and location the excavation finds. You should start with "red flags".

Movement over the studied site in the form of the letter "X" specify a location and queue dig finds.

Step 5. Proceed to further identify the type of targets that are marked "white flags". Specify the location and depth of the targets. Further work on selection and eliminating unnecessary objects produced by the detector:

  • or in the "Dynamic discrimination" automatic balanced soil;
  • or in the mode "All metals" with manual adjustment to compensate for the effect of different components of soil and careful analysis of audible and visual cues from device.

Recommended in the areas of localization, for better identification type objectives to keep the minimum clearance between the search coil and the ground, to level uneven ground, to trample down the grass and, if necessary for identify, remove up to 5 cm of the soil!

Noteworthy objects have a response in the form of repeatable sound signal by repeated movements of the coil directly over the location of objectives:

  • if the signal is not repeated, then go around the area of finding purpose in a circle, with each step traversing its center along the diameter of the longitudinal movements of the search coil, for example, under eight different angles every 45 degrees for a full revolution, you perfect around the target;
  • if sound high pitch sound coming from the target, completely disappears when the movement of the coil under some of the corners, most likely you found oxidized ferrous metals, and not colored;
  • if the angle of movement of the coil changes the tone of the sound signal, you may have discovered several objects with different depth - Double the purpose of";
  • if you are new to the search for metals, you may need to dig out all detected target at first.

Excavations

Surveying the field you are interested with the localization of findings from the maximum possible accuracy, switch off the power to the unit (to preserve battery) and proceed to the excavations. It makes sense to dig not only "colored" signals, and iron, because such a signal may issue box with gold coins, ancient, perfectly preserved a sword or dagger. To dig or not to dig - you decide!

As a rule, most of the items located at the surface. Depth occurrence you can pre-measure, if your detector is equipped with depth gauge, if not, this can be done by using a probe or screwdriver. If a search object (the coin) is at the earth's surface, for to get it, you can not dig the hole and shovel you will not need, and be limited only to tear a knife and a screwdriver.

In other cases, when more than deep groundwater, it is necessary to excavate the find. For this first planned square shovel dimensions 20x20 cm fossa digging to a maximum depth of 40 cm, the diameter may reach 40 see If you have to dig in the grass, then cut out the turf so that it can be carefully remove. Before digging in, you need to check something in metal the place where we will put the selected soil.

If possible choose the ground you need to put in a place free from grass and bushes. But much better all the excavated earth onto the Mat made of canvas or oilcloth from dense polyethylene 1.5 m by 1.5 m. On the Mat it even out in the layer, thus manually by spatula break up the clods of the earth, let us examine carefully a layer of a metal detector.

After the first shovels excavated Check whether the selected desired soil treasures, not stuck if the coin is to the hoe, scoop or shovel. If not - dig further, repeating the test pit detector at deepening every 5-10 cm.

Checking whether the finding in the selected soil, it is best to spend in order not to get continually lifting the metal detector. You can put the detector on the earth and selected soil bring to the coil handfuls on a plastic spatula.

On the hands and fingers when they are closer to the coil there should be no metal! Don't forget to remove the watch! Metal buttons and zippers on the sleeves shirts and jackets also need to replace the plastic. Digging up and examining all indicate locations of finds, need to go through this area again, exploring the pits and excavated earth. It so happens that an interesting signal meets again on previously excavated site. In such cases you need to dig deeper and wider (and suddenly there treasure?), periodically checking the place excavations by the device.

In some cases, the depth of excavation can reach 1 m or more. In the process excavations you will find valuable objects - coins, rarities, gold jewelry. In addition to useful discoveries, unfortunately, the more you will dig and find every metal debris. It is best to collect all the garbage in order that, after completion of works to bury him in one, quite a remote location. Will be very frustrating to stumble on it again.

One of the canons of conduct self-respecting professional-seeker is considered elimination of traces of their stay. You will need to fill each dug a pit and to lay the turf. Surveyed the site after remediation is necessary to trample down and if it is possible to disguise sprinkled leaves. In addition, not filed up the pits give a "tip" other seekers and just the curious people. If we want to protect from prying eyes some "your fish place", where something can regularly find it necessary to watch, that it does did not stand out from the environment.
