Recently, the authors increasingly oppose the use of the diode in the circuit the power of incandescent lamps. The arguments are different - from saving energy [1] to preservation of health [2]. In my experience, the points are basically the people who love bright artificial light and on their television screens set unnaturally a higher brightness. That's right, 90% of the energy consumed by the lamps the filament is provided in the form of infrared radiation, heat. In [1] it heat is considered lost. But artificial light we use mainly in the cold seasons.

In this time, houses have to warm, and the bulbs just contribute. We do not feel, as not have homes in the heat (many don't even know what it is). In the summer to save on lighting even easier, need to go to sleep and Wake up with the sun, and all, and no energy saving technologies.

Are there savings when you use a diode? Answer: “Yes, Yes, and how!" American experts say that the use of the diode extends the life light bulbs 100 times, and many have already seen this. In addition, in many cases lamp 60 or 100 watts is just not needed, so try to buy the lamp at 15-25 W, and its rickety spiral quickly burns out, or simply breaks off. The price of some our bulbs are already exceeds the cost of electricity that they manage to spend in his short life. So it makes sense to use more powerful light, feeding it through the diode. The application of thyristor regulators power also extends the life of light bulbs. Therefore, I consider it expedient not to waste time and paper to fight the diodes and thyristor power regulators.
