When sharing a household VCR with a TV that does not have remote control system, you may find the use of a simple device, providing your TV automatically turns on when you turn VCR. Any adaptation of a TV or VCR does not required.
The action of the device (see figure) based on the change of the current consumed VCR when you switch from standby mode.
Power to the TV is fed via the current key consisting of rectifier bridge VD1, the diagonal of which includes the thyristor optocoupler DA1. Led coupler included in the supply circuit of the VCR through the bridge VD2. Capacitor C1 and resistor R1 provide filtering of the rectified voltage.
